ATLANTA – Barnes & Thornburg LLP has added Robert Lockwood to its Atlanta office as a partner in the Intellectual Property Department. Lockwood was previously a partner at Burr & Forman LLP.
Lockwood helps clients manage their intellectual property portfolios and advises on trademark licensing and prosecution, trade dress, copyright, domain name and technology issues. He plays a leading role in negotiating and drafting domain name licensing agreements and settlements, as well as employment and independent contractor agreements.
“Robert is as extremely accomplished, especially when dealing with the web address and domain landscape,” said Felicia Boyd, co-chair of Barnes & Thornburg’s Intellectual Property Department. “He has an impressive track record working with clients to develop and execute innovative branding strategies, and he’s equally skilled at defending against IP-related assaults against companies.”
Lockwood also handles intellectual property audits and policies and conducts due diligence investigations related to intellectual property protections in M&A transactions. Additionally, he has presided over arbitration proceedings before the World Intellectual Property Organization.

Outside of his legal work, Lockwood serves at the treasurer/secretary of the Danish American Chamber of Commerce.
Lockwood earned his J.D. from the Widener University Law School and his B.A. from The College of William & Mary. He is admitted to practice in the state of Georgia.
