The firm’s Grand Rapids office, located in the heart of downtown in the iconic “Mirror on Monroe” building, is comprised of some of Michigan’s most knowledgeable and experienced lawyers who counsel clients in more than 50 practice areas, including corporate, real estate, litigation, labor and employment, environmental, finance, insolvency and restructuring, and intellectual property.
Our attorneys understand the nuances and technical aspects of and counsel clients in a variety of niche areas, including: administrative regulatory law, construction litigation, governmental services and federal lobbying, insurance recovery, labor union negotiations, municipal finance, private client services, white collar defense, toxic torts and trademarks. It also serves as the base of operations for the firm’s Native American Law & Policy and Aviation practice groups, both of which serve clients across the country.
The attorneys in the firm’s Grand Rapids office have strong roots in their local communities, carrying on a Barnes & Thornburg tradition of providing support to nonprofit organizations in the communities where we work and live. Most of our Grand Rapids attorneys are longtime Michigan residents, and several of them serve in leadership roles at prominent civic and charitable organizations throughout the state, including Junior Achievement of the Michigan Great Lakes, BISSELL Pet Foundation, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Blandford Nature Center, American Heart Association, YMCA, YWCA and West Michigan Legal Aid. The office also has established strong community partnerships with the Grand Rapids Art Museum and Grand Rapids Public Schools.
