Barnes & Thornburg Adds White Collar Litigator Peter Morris to Los Angeles Office

LOS ANGELES – Barnes & Thornburg announced today that Peter Morris has joined the firm’s Litigation Department as a partner in the Los Angeles office. Previously, Morris was at Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton LLP, where he was partner in the Government Contracts, Investigations & International Trade Practice Group.

Morris is a litigator whose practice focuses primarily on white collar criminal defense, complex business litigation, health care matters and securities litigation. He has extensive experience in conducting internal investigations and defending and counseling companies and individuals in a wide range of federal prosecutions, including securities fraud, bank fraud, health care fraud, criminal antitrust, bribery, money laundering, tax evasion and environmental crimes. He is an experienced trial lawyer who has tried numerous civil and criminal cases representing plaintiffs and defendants.

About Peter Morris

Prior to his career with Sheppard Mullin, Morris served as a partner with Mayer Brown LLP. He also served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Criminal Division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California from 1989 to 1991. From 1994 to 1996, Morris held a full-time faculty appointment with the University of California at Los Angeles School of Law.

Morris is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Courts of Massachusetts, Eastern District of Louisiana, Eastern District of Michigan and Central District of California. He is also admitted to the U.S Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and U.S. Supreme Court.

He earned his J.D. cum laude from Harvard Law School and his A.B. cum laude from Cornell University.
