Heather Delgado of the Chicago office will be speaking on March 6 at the ABA's 16th Annual Conference on Emerging Issues in Healthcare Law. The topic of the seminar is "Balancing the Competing Interests of the Patient, Provider and Public in Managing Highly Infectious Diseases in the United States." Heather will be on the panel with Jane Jordan, deputy general counsel of Emory University. Heather is speaking about what policies, procedures and protocols a health care facility should have in place in the event a patient with a highly infectious disease presents at such facility. In addition, Heather will be addressing staffing issues, response team protocols and the communication plan a facility should have in place, as well as regulatory issues associated with the treatment of a patient with a highly infectious disease, such as EMTALA and HIPAA issues.
