Barnes & Thornburg Adds Bankruptcy Attorney Connie Lahn in Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS – Barnes & Thornburg announced today that Connie A. Lahn has joined the firm’s Finance, Insolvency and Restructuring Department as a partner in the Minneapolis office. Previously, Lahn was a shareholder at Fafinski Mark & Johnson and served as chair of the firm’s Bankruptcy & Insolvency group.

Lahn focuses her practice on bankruptcy law, workouts, equipment leasing issues, foreclosures, real estate remedies, commercial mortgage-backed securities defaults, and related commercial litigation. She represents financial institutions, creditors and equipment lessors in major debt restructuring cases. Notably, Lahn represented the Unsecured Creditors Committee in one of the largest Ponzi scheme bankruptcies in the country and has handled workouts and foreclosures of major loan portfolios on behalf of national clients.

“Connie has an impressive track record in representing and counseling clients on complex bankruptcy issues and insolvency proceedings across the country,” said David Powlen, chair of the firm’s Finance, Insolvency and Restructuring Department. “Her experience in serving a broad variety of clients will provide valuable depth to our Department’s national practice.”

Since 2007, Lahn has been selected each year for inclusion in the Minnesota Super Lawyers by Minnesota Law & Politics, including being named one of the Top 50 Women Attorneys (2013 and 2014) and one of the Top 100 Women Attorneys (2009 and 2010). In 2012 and 2013, Lahn was named Lawyer of the Year in the Insolvency Law category at the CorporateINTL Legal Awards.

Lahn has been admitted to the US District Court, District of Minnesota and the US Court of Appeals, Eighth Circuit. Additionally, Lahn is an active member of Minnesota State Bar Association (Bankruptcy Section) and Minnesota Women Lawyers.

Earlier in her career, Lahn served as a law clerk to Chief Judge Dennis D. O'Brien of the United States Bankruptcy Court, District of Minnesota. She earned her law degree from the William Mitchell College of Law and her bachelor’s degree from St. Cloud State University.
