Barnes & Thornburg Continues Building IP Practice in Atlanta With Addition of Tina Dorr

ATLANTA – Barnes & Thornburg has added Tina Dorr as a partner in the firm’s Atlanta office and growing Intellectual Property Department.  

Dorr focuses her practice on executing sophisticated intellectual property strategies around high-tech patents and trade secrets. She represents clients in a wide range of technology areas, including chemical, material, life science, mechanical, aerospace and semiconductor technologies, including those within batteries, as well as supplements, food and beverage, and construction. 

“Tina’s proven track record as a tenacious IP attorney makes her an exciting addition to the firm,” said John T.L. Koenig, managing partner of the firm’s Atlanta office. “As we continue to deepen and strengthen our Atlanta office’s offerings, Tina is poised to provide a great deal of value to our clients in Georgia and beyond.”

With a Ph.D. in chemistry and biochemistry, Dorr is well-equipped to effectively connect with scientists and engineers to guide their technological developments and inventions to maintain a competitive advantage in the market. Dorr assists with drafting, prosecuting, and managing patent application portfolios from around the globe. She also educates her clients’ teams, management, and stakeholders on the value of intellectual property to the success of their businesses. 

Prior to joining Barnes & Thornburg, Tina practiced at a large intellectual property boutique law firm in Atlanta.

Tina has a passion for community outreach and leadership, and outside of her work, Dorr is the president-elect of the Georgia Asian Pacific American Bar Association, a member of the State Bar of Georgia Committee to Promote Inclusion in the Profession, vice-chair of Intellectual Property Owners Association (IPO) Leadership Development Committee, and chair of the Intellectual Property Owners Education Foundation (IPOEF) Employ & Encourage Committee. 

Dorr earned her B.S. in biology from the University of Georgia, where she graduated summa cum laude. She earned her Ph.D., summa cum laude, from Georgia Institute of Technology and her J.D. from Georgia State University College of Law.
