Clients frequently assisted in bankruptcy cases by the department include banks, credit enterprises, insurance companies and other financial institutions, and publicly and privately owned businesses of all kinds. Members of the department appear on behalf of clients in major bankruptcy jurisdictions throughout the United States, including Delaware, California, Florida, Illinois, Michigan, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Texas.
Our attorneys contribute articles and are speakers at programs related to bankruptcy and creditors rights law, and they are active members of many local, state, and national organizations focused on their practice, including the American Bankruptcy Institute, the Business Bankruptcy Committee of the American Bar Association, and the Bankruptcy & Insolvency Section of the Commercial Law League of America. Moreover, several of the department's attorneys are certified in the area of business bankruptcy law by the American Board of Certification.
The department's attorneys are skilled at identifying and handling an array of special environmental, insurance, labor, tax and other issues that may be associated with a reorganization or liquidation case. In addition, department members are often consulted on, and involved in, planning and documenting transactions and in developing strategy and structuring settlements in litigated matters, so that the potential bankruptcy of any party may be anticipated and appropriately addressed in advance.
