Zach holds himself to a high standard of professionalism for his clients and with his colleagues alike. He is a skilled researcher and considers no subject to be too challenging when formulating a litigation strategy. He is diligent when drafting critical motions and appeals for complex civil and criminal matters.
Before joining the firm full-time, Zach spent a year serving as a clerk to the Honorable Michael Kanne in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, where he was instrumental in preparing opinions and bench memos for quite an array of civil and criminal cases.
Zach also gained experience as a judicial extern for the Honorable Chief Justice Loretta Rush of the Indiana Supreme Court and the Honorable Magistrate Judge Tim Baker of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana.
As a summer associate with Barnes & Thornburg and in these clerkship and externship roles, Zach gained insight across a range of legal issues, including complex civil litigation, sentencing guidelines, and criminal appeals. He specifically researched and wrote on matters involving choice of law, the Fifth Amendment, the UCC, the Fourth Amendment, and attorneys’ fees.
During undergrad, Zach spent two summers studying abroad in Tanzania and the Czech Republic.
